Job summary

Academies of Math and Science is seeking a passionate and data-driven 6th Grade Science Teacher to deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in a full-time, on-site role in Peoria, AZ.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science or related field or valid Arizona teaching certification, and a commitment to data-driven instruction, PBIS, and high expectations for student achievement.

Qualifications

• Candidates must meet one of the following requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related field OR Valid Arizona teaching certification in a relevant subject area.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management skills
• Pass required background checks and obtain an IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Demonstrate commitment to serving Title I and multilingual communities
• Show strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for data-driven instruction
• Exhibit collaboration, professionalism, and initiative in a team-based environment

Responsibilities

• Deliver rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction aligned to AMS curriculum frameworks.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students performing above and below grade level.
• Use formative and summative assessment data to guide instructional planning and interventions.
• Foster inquiry-based learning and hands-on scientific exploration.
• Establish and maintain a structured, positive, and high-expectations classroom environment.
• Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies.
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.
• Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities.
• Collaborate with grade-level teams and instructional leaders to strengthen instructional practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the campus.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress.
• Lead parent-teacher conferences and maintain strong home-school partnerships.
