Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking Electives teachers to deliver rigorous instruction across Fine Arts, Health, and Technology Applications. You will plan and deliver lessons, assess progress, and communicate regularly with families to ensure student mastery and college readiness.

The role emphasizes data-driven instruction, engagement with multiple stakeholders, and a commitment to IDEA’s values, with after-hours tutoring and campus responsibilities as part of the job.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement state learning standards and IDEA curricula and assessments to meet ambitious academic expectations.
• Learn, master, and deliver relevant content and grade level curriculum, core content objectives and texts.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Implement formal and informal assessments to track each student’s progress and adjust lesson plans accordingly.
• Communicate students’ progress with students and families on a weekly basis.
• Use technology as a communication and educational tool to improve student achievement and manage tasks.
• Establish a clear behavior management system aligned to campus initiatives.
• Help shape a school-wide culture that fosters a productive learning environment.
• Establish cooperative relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
• Host tutoring sessions to meet students’ needs.
• Participate in weekly manager check-ins and school-wide meetings.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
• Spend 40+ hours at school per week.
