Job summary

St. George’s Episcopal School in New Orleans seeks an experienced middle school educator to cover a parental leave in the Middle School Math Department from December 9, 2026 to January 15, 2027.

The substitute will teach 5th, 6th, and 7th grade math sections, supervise a 5th grade advisory, and perform lunch and carpool duties. The role is a full-time, non-exempt 6-week position reporting to the Director of Middle School, with collaboration across the Mathematics Department Chair.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, math, or related field
• At least two years of experience working with children
• Proficiency with Google Apps and technology-based educational tools
• Ability to work well in a team and collaborate
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Deliver lessons following the teacher’s plans for middle school math units
• Enter grades and assessments into the school gradebook software
• Update the Google Classroom for each section daily
• Supervise lunch, carpool, and advisory activities as assigned
• Attend weekly math department meetings
• Collaborate with other teachers to support student learning
