Job summary

Amethod Public Schools is seeking a dedicated 5th Grade Classroom Teacher to provide rigorous, engaging instruction in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The teacher will foster students’ academic and social-emotional growth, use assessment data to guide instruction, and collaborate with colleagues and families to prepare every student for success in middle school and beyond.

Ideal candidates will have strong classroom management, mastery of subject matter, and a commitment to AMPS

Qualifications

• Two years of teaching experience with a record of high student achievement (preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university
• Credential Copy showing subject, description, expiration date, and EL authorization
• CBEST passing score
• Experience working with youth

Responsibilities

• Set and hold students to extremely high academic and behavioral standards
• Relentlessly demonstrate and embody the schools core values and ensure that students are challenged
• Believe in measurable student academic growth to increase individual student's achievement
• Assess every student's mastery of the content and diagnose areas of student misunderstanding
• Demonstrate strong content knowledge
• Prepare questions, model responses and practice effective instructional delivery
• Lead students through guided and independent practice and regularly check for understanding
• Ensure academic rigor by asking increasingly difficult questions and posting high-quality work
• Use engagement strategies and adapt for diverse learners
• Meet needs of range of students with extra support or variation of work
• Be responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and productive learning environment
• Align with AMPS core values and school norms to promote respect
• Address student safety and well-being concerns promptly
• Plan and analyze data using assessments to guide instruction
• Set measurable, ambitious goals for the year and for interim cycles
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure each student achieves gains
