Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in Live Oak, TX is seeking a 5th Grade Teacher with a math focus to join the K-5 team. The role involves delivering the Great Hearts curriculum, maintaining an orderly, joyful classroom, and supporting students in developing mathematical understanding and a love of learning.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, has US work authorization, and will pass TxDPS background clearance. Teachers collaborate with staff and families to promote academic and character growth.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly, joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
  • Provide appropriate academic support to students, monitor progress, and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold and model the culture, policies, and expectations of Great Hearts, including dress code, conduct, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Position Title: 5th Grade Teacher - Math Focus Location: Great Hearts Live Oak Lower School (7653 N Loop 1604 E, Live Oak, TX 78233) Reports To: Headmaster FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

About the K-5 Teacher Role

As a Homeroom Teacher you provide a welcoming and nurturing classroom that guides students to build a deep sense of wonder and a love of learning. Curricular elements include Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, as well as rich content in History, Science, and Literature. As a Homeroom Teacher you enjoy the support of an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher in your classroom.

Required/Preferred Education

Bachelor's (or higher) degree is required for a lead teaching role Certification is not required for general education roles. Candidates must pass TxDPS background clearance. All majors are welcome US Work Authorization is required. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements. Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
