Job summary

Great Hearts Academies in Prairie View, TX is seeking a 1st Grade Lead Teacher who fosters a joyful, principled classroom aligned with the Great Hearts curriculum. You will guide students through Spalding Phonics and Singapore Mathematics, supported by an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher.

As a Homeroom Teacher you will nurture curiosity, assess progress, communicate with families, and participate in ongoing professional growth while upholding school culture and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher required for lead teaching role.
  • Certification not required for general education.
  • US Work Authorization required.
  • Employment contingent upon successful background check and fingerprint clearance.
  • Travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials, preparing thoughtful lessons and an orderly, joyful classroom.
  • Provide academic support to students, monitor progress, and address needs in a timely manner.
  • Uphold culture, dress code, and safety procedures, contributing to a respectful school environment.

About the K-5 Teacher Role

As a Homeroom Teacher you provide a welcoming and nurturing classroom that guides students to build a deep sense of wonder and a love of learning. Curricular elements include Spalding Phonics, Singapore Mathematics, as well as rich content in History, Science, and Literature. As a Homeroom Teacher you enjoy the support of an Assistant/Apprentice Teacher in your classroom.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families, initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.
  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration, school events, assigned duties, and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.
Required/Preferred Education
  • Bachelor's or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role
  • Certification is not required for general education
  • All majors are welcome
  • US Work Authorization is required
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
  • Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
