Job summary

Dorchester County Public Schools Hurlock Elementary School in Hurlock, Maryland is recruiting an Instructional Assistant-HQ for the 2026-2027 school year to support 5th grade classrooms. You will work under the principal and content supervisor, providing strategies, resources, and instruction to help each student meet Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards.

Responsibilities include supporting students individually and in small groups, coordinating with teachers to stay current on class

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a classroom setting preferred.
• Deemed Highly Qualified with an Associate’s Degree, 48 college credits, or paraprofessional exam.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to accept supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supports teacher with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic progress.
• Obtains daily lessons and class work from teachers to keep students current.
• Acts as liaison between teacher and student; monitors attendance, behavior, and progress.
• Implements instructional strategies aligned with Maryland standards.
