Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is hiring a Class Size Teaching Assistant for 5th grade in North/Northwest Side locations. The role supports teachers, supervises students, and assists with classroom setup and materials.

Candidates should hold a high school diploma and a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or be eligible to obtain it with required college credits. Responsibilities include tutoring, grade collection, assisting in bus loading, and maintaining orderly classrooms.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D. equivalent).
• Valid TASN paraprofessional license from ISBE required (or obtained after 60 college credits).
• Good knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and basic math.
• Ability to work with school-aged children and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision of students during lunch and playground.
• Provide security functions and monitor corridors.
• Assist students with classroom work and teacher prep of materials.
• Greet visitors and direct them to appropriate areas.
• Tutor students under teacher supervision and collect/grade homework.
• Assist in loading/unloading students and handling transportation logistics.
