Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Contract Datacenter Technician to support our Milwaukee, WI site. You will prepare, stage, and startup hardware, perform diagnostics, and ensure proper grounding, labeling, and cabling per deployment standards.

The role requires 1+ year(s) of IT equipment support, basic Office familiarity, and flexibility for non-standard hours. Previous datacenter experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
• 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.
• Previous datacenter experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, stage, set up, and perform startups and shutdowns per instructions and standard protocols.
• Perform post-execution quality checks and verify grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling per safety and deployment standards.
• Diagnose issues, troubleshoot, and replace faulty components.
• Decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes following standard procedures.
• Communicate, report, and escalate incidents to Datacenter Technician Leads.

• Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) according to specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails.
• Performs post-execution quality checks and verifies that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
• Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifies the cause(s) of issues, and replaces faulty components
• Decommissions hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance
• Follows procedures to communicate, report, and escalation incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads
• Required: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Required: Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
• Required: 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
