Job summary

Morris School District is seeking a .5 Orchestra Teacher (Middle School) to provide engaging music instruction in our middle schools. The ideal candidate holds a New Jersey Instruction Certificate with a Subject Area Endorsement and demonstrates knowledge of effective teaching methods and inclusive classroom practices.

You will develop daily instruction, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with district programs, collaborate in PLCs, integrate technology, and monitor student progress.

Qualifications

• Valid New Jersey Instruction Certificate with Subject Area Endorsement is required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
• Support and enhance a sense of belonging and academic success for all students with specific attention to traditionally marginalized populations.
• Foster social and emotional intelligence through effective classroom management and discussion/teaching.
• Effectively teach content assigned (general or specialists).
• Prepare robust daily instruction and weekly lesson plans for all subjects according to Morris School District programs and policies.
• Collaborate with a professional learning community (PLC) to reflect and improve teaching and learning for all students.
• Integrate technology and interactive elements into classroom instruction.
• Utilize approved district data sources to analyze student progress and provide targeted, differentiated instruction for all students.
• Build honest relationships with parents to update them on student progress and learning style.
• Prepare and assign personalized academic assignments, homework and projects according to district policy and curriculum guidance.
• Grade assignments with constructive feedback and help students set learning goals aligned with standards.
• Monitor, evaluate and report student progress, including academic growth, social skills, and behavior modification.
• Maintain and update student files as needed.
• Set personal and professional goals aligned with district vision and evaluation tools.
• Attend professional development sessions and meetings organized by principal/supervisor and district.
• Meet requests for additional responsibilities by Principal/Supervisor.

• Attend and apply strategies from professional development sessions and meetings organized by principal/supervisor and district
• Follow work day and attendance guidelines set forth by negotiated contract and Morris School District HR protocols
• Meet requests for additional responsibilities by Principal/Supervisor
• Contract Terms: 184 days/year

Salary: In accordance with the established MorrisSchool District Salary Guide currently ranging from$30K - $40K

Effective September 1, 2011,The New Jersey First Act implemented May 17, 2011, requires all employees of a school district to reside in the state of New Jersey. Employees of the Morris School District hired after the effective date who do not reside in the State of New Jersey at the time of hire have one year from the effective date of employment to relocate their primary residence to New Jersey. Employees of the school district hired prior to the September 1, 2011 effective date of this Act are grandfathered and are not required to relocate to New Jersey.
