Job summary

Canopy A&D in Ontario, CA is seeking a CNC 5 Axis Milling Machinist to set up and operate 3–5 axis HAAS mills, DMS, BIESSE, and Thermwood routers in an AS9100 environment. The role requires reading complex blueprints, tool selection, and maintaining tight tolerances.

You will interpret CNC programs, perform first article inspections, adjust offsets, and contribute to process improvements. This is a full-time, 2nd shift, onsite position with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Five years of experience operating 3–5 axis HAAS mills, DMS, BIESSE, or Thermwood routers.
• Able to read and interpret complex blueprints and drawings.
• Experience in an AS9100 environment preferred.
• Proficient with tooling selection, load tools, and fixtures.
• Knowledge of HAAS, Fanuc, and Siemens controls.
• Strong shop math and measurement with micrometers/calipers.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce parts per work orders and drawings.
• Interpret CNC programs, setup sheets, tool lists, routings, and in-process quality instructions.
• Select tool holders, cutting tools, and fixtures; load into machine and set zero/offsets.
• Ensure proper lubrication/cooling during machining.
• Perform first article checks and adjust offsets as needed.
• Provide recommendations to improve productivity and tooling usage.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and maintain documentation.
