Job summary

Karman Space & Defense is seeking a skilled 5‑Axis CNC Machinist in Santa Ana, CA to produce high‑precision components for space hardware. You will prepare materials, tooling, and fixtures, then operate complex CNC equipment to meet strict quality and safety standards.

Collaborate with programmers and leadership to optimize workflows, maintain AS9100 compliance, and support continuous improvement initiatives while delivering on-time, defect-free parts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience operating CNC equipment.
• Experience with Siemens 840D and Fanuc 31i-B5 controls.
• Strong blueprint interpretation and setup skills.
• Knowledge of QMS reporting and record keeping.

Responsibilities

• Maintains AS9100 procedures and supports continuous improvement efforts.
• Prepares CNC equipment by ensuring material, tooling, cutters, programs, and fixtures are available and properly stored.
• Operates 5 axis CNC machines to manufacture products efficiently and safely.
• Works with management to prioritize machine schedules and optimize workflow.
• Collaborates with programmers to minimize setup time and improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Performs general CNC maintenance and keeps machines and work areas clean and organized.
• Orders cutters and tooling needed to support machining activities.
• Identifies and reports quality or time-management concerns to management.
• Understands how product failures affect customers and contributes to product conformity and safety.
• Completes additional machining-related duties as assigned.
