Dayton Freight Company in Des Plaines, IL is seeking a Customer Service Representative to support freight pickup requests, rate quotes, and shipment tracing. You will handle high-volume calls, provide information, and coordinate with drivers and account managers to ensure smooth service.

This role offers a Monday–Friday 5:00 PM–10:00 PM shift, ongoing training, and a path for quick advancement in a stable logistics environment with modern facilities and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent keyboarding skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in fast-paced environments with high call volumes.
• Strong communication and customer service abilities.

Responsabilités

• Assist Dayton Freight customers with freight pickup requests, rate quotes, charges, hot shipments, shipment tracing and appointments.
• Assist the Service Center Manager.
• Take and deliver messages for the Service Center Manager and Account Managers.
• Provide assistance to Drivers.
• Prepare bills of lading and delivery receipts.
• Maintain excellent communication with external and internal customers and interline companies.
• May assist with payroll, data entry, freight reports, driver collect reports, billing and filing.

Responsibilities

• Customer Service Representatives are responsible for assisting Dayton Freight customers with a variety of inquires including freight pickup requests, rate quotes or freight charges, hot shipments, shipment tracing and appointments or special requests.
• Assist the Service Center Manager
• Take and deliver messages for the Service Center Manager and Account Managers
• Provide assistance to Drivers
• Prepare bills of lading and delivery receipts
• Maintain excellent communication with external and internal customers as well as interline companies
• May be asked to assist with:
  • Payroll
  • Data entry
  • Freight reports
  • Driver collect reports
  • Billing and filling

• Skillful in Microsoft Office Programs
• Excellent keyboarding skills
• Has worked in a fast paced environment and has excellent attention to detail
• Experience with handling a high volume of phone calls
• Exceptional communication and customer service skills

Pay

Starting Pay: $18.00/hour. Pay does vary depending on relevant experience.

Physical Demands

This position requires the ability to perform administrative and clerical tasks in an office and Service Center environment.
