Job summary

WebstaurantStore in Baytown, TX is seeking an Outbound Assistant Manager to support the Outbound Manager in shipping operations, including picking, packing, QA, and other indirect roles, with a focus on quality and customer experience.

You will lead a team, train staff, track metrics, collaborate with the Inbound team, and drive improvements in productivity, safety, and efficiency while upholding company policies and SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in operations leadership.
  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to explain concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the management of day-to-day operations within the Outbound department, including Picking, Consolidation, Packing, QA, and other indirect roles.
  • Train, coach, develop, and hold accountable up to X employees to achieve metrics.
  • Collaborate with Inbound Manager to monitor daily/weekly/monthly metrics and resolve issues.
  • Provide clear and frequent communication regarding policies and procedures.
  • Lead weekly/monthly meetings to review metrics and initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for productivity improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency gains.
  • Ensure safety regulations are followed and maintain high engagement.

Job Summary

The Outbound Assistant Manager assists the Outbound Manager in overseeing the shipping department of the facility within their respective shift, including picking, packing, and indirect positions, focusing on quality, accuracy, and providing excellent customer experience. The Outbound Assistant Manager works with the Outbound Manager to collaborate with leadership on other shifts/departments to ensure compliance with all protocol and SOP’s, problem solving, and meet operational directives.

Operational
  • Assists with the management of the day-to-day operations within the Outbound department, including Picking, Consolidation, Packing, QA, and other indirect roles. Ensure that the team is consistently focused on achieving a high degree of quality, efficiency, and accuracy to satisfy our customer base.
  • Train, coach, develop, and hold accountable up to X employees to achieve operational metrics and satisfy the needs of the distribution center.
  • Works closely with the Inbound Manager to monitor daily, weekly, and monthly metrics for the receiving department; identify and resolve operating issues as needed.
  • Provide clear and frequent communication to all teams regarding company policies and procedures.
  • In collaboration with the Outbound Manager, lead weekly and monthly meetings to share information including metrics review, areas of improvement, employee relations issues, and provide updates on any initiatives and related projects.
  • Assists in analyzing opportunities for improvement including productivity growth, cost reduction, damage mitigation, and increased process efficiency.
People
  • Ensure the timely completion of all employee performance reviews and provide frequent and constructive feedback to all team members in accordance with the Great Employees Only philosophy.
  • Interact with employees regularly to promote a high level of engagement and ensure all safety regulations are followed.
  • Promptly complete all admin duties relating to employee management to the expected standard.
Leadership
  • Collaborate with the leadership team within the building to meet the needs of the DC and foster a team mentality.
  • Work with the Outbound Manager and Team Leads to create development plans for employees to maintain engagement and develop a leadership bench.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and honesty, embodying the core values of the company and modeling them for our employees.
  • Serve as a leader not only for the assigned department, but for the entire distribution center, holding peers, managers and employees accountable to expectations.
Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 12 hours/day.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
  • Requires the regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
  • Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
  • Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 75lbs.
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in operations leadership.
  • Associate degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working in a distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.
Education
