Job summary

Paramount’s Technology division seeks an experienced broadcast audio engineer to support live TV productions in New York. You will operate Calrec consoles, configure RTS/ODIN comms, and coordinate with A2s and production teams to ensure high-quality audio for live-to-air tapings.

The role requires a decade in broadcast audio, strong technical knowledge, and teamwork across engineering and operations. On-site work in NYC with opportunities to collaborate across a global content company.

Qualifications

• 10 years' experience in a broadcast audio environment.
• Calrec Console experience required; LAWO console experience a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of broadcast audio equipment and high-level audio concepts.
• Experience operating RTS ADAM/ODIN comms systems in live production.
• Working with Audio Assists on the floor for rehearsals and taping.
• IP-based intercom and audio infrastructure understanding.

Responsibilities

• Operate, troubleshoot, and navigate audio components of Entertainment TV programming.
• Program RTS ADAM/ODIN comms systems (AZ Edit configuration and troubleshooting).
• Collaborate with A2s and other audio mixers daily for rehearsals and taping.
• QC incoming footage and relay issues to production and technical teams for live to air.
• Maintain mic, PA, and monitor readiness for show.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• 10 years' experience in a broadcast audio environment. Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and expertly navigate all audio components of Entertainment TV programming.
• Calrec Console experience is required, LAWO console experience a plus.
• Advanced knowledge of broadcast audio equipment and high-level audio concepts- examples include but are not limited to: Consoles; Lavalier, Handheld and Boom Microphones; Audio Routing; AES, Madi, & Analog workflows.
• Proven experience operating (in live production environments) and programming RTS ADAM/ ODIN comms systems, including AZ Edit configuration and troubleshooting
• Working with Audio Assists (A2's) on the floor and other audio mixers to check mics, PA, Monitors, on a daily basis in preparation for rehearsal and taping of show.
• Demonstrated understanding of IP-based intercom and audio infrastructure, including RVON, trucking, and networked comms workflows.
• QC of all incoming footage and media for show, ability to relay issues in a timely manner and work with production and technical teams to resolve for use on live to air tapings.

Required Skills:

• Understanding of Calrec Console and the complexities of the console when used in the live production environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a extremely fast paced production environment, while maintaining a high level of quality in one’s work, concern for the needs of the production and care for the finished product going to air nightly.
• A positive attitude and willingness to collaborate across operational, management and technology layers to solve problems and provide solutions.
• Experience with audio standards and related infrastructure
• Ability to communicate with maintenance and engineering to have the most updated technical documentation and workflow diagrams for the facility
• Ability to work with engineers to test and integrate new systems.
• Current member, or willingness to join, IBEW union

Additional Information

Hiring Salary Range: $27.25 - 61.68.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
