Duties/Responsibilities

Under the direction of the 4-H County Extension Agent, deliver 4-H positive youth development programming directly to youth. This includes:

• facilitating/teaching 4-H in-school club meetings;
• preparing students for 4-H Project Achievement;
• attending 4-H Summer Camp;
• designing and implementing community service projects;
• and assisting with other 4-H base programming.

Members will assist the 4-H Agent with day-to-day activities involved with providing direct services to youth, such as planning and development of 4-H programming. Some programming may be delivered in a virtual format. Members will provide transportation to youth.

Percentage of time 55

Support and provide leadership to the county 4-H Volunteer program: recruit, screen, train, and engage volunteers. The member may assist with coordinating the county volunteer registration database. Halt-time (part-time) members should recruit at least 5 new volunteers during their service.

Track and document data related to the AmeriCorps performance measures and complete monthly reports, supported by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes administering surveys to youth as well as data entry.

Attend local, district, and state program activities and events alongside 4-H County Extension Coordinator. Attend district and state-wide trainings, including the AmeriCorps New Service Year Orientation (October 6-7, 2026, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center) as well as additional face-to-face trainings and at least monthly webinars.

Position Summary

The AmeriCorps State program is a federally funded grant providing U.S. citizens with the opportunity to serve in their own country. The Georgia 4-H AmeriCorps State member provides 4-H programming directly to youth under the direction of the County Extension Agent. Supervision is also provided by the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator. This includes planning, implementation, and delivery of programming including in-school and after school club meetings, camp, and other 4-H programming delivered in the county as well as volunteer recruitment and transportation of youth. The member will also assist the AmeriCorps State Program Coordinator in collecting impact data by administering surveys to youth and entering data into provided spreadsheets. Members should comply with AmeriCorps guidelines such as monthly reporting, monthly webinars, and other trainings.

This posting is for a part-time member serving for 12 months for the period of September 1, 2026 – August 31, 2027. Members are will log a total of 900 hours, averaging 20 hours/week, depending on start date.
