Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • AA degree or higher, or 60 college credits, or passing score on AZ Paraprofessional Exam.
  • First aid/CPR certification required.
  • CPI certification required (district-provided training).

Responsibilities

  • Assist teacher in working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce academic and/or behavior skills as directed by the teacher and staff.
  • Perform duties determined by the team, including daily living skills, toileting, personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and schedule implementation.
  • Use basic behavior management and crisis intervention strategies for prevention and intervention.
  • Provide collaborative classroom support for students with IEPs.
  • Participate in in-service, workshops, and conferences as directed.
  • Demonstrate collaboration skills and teamwork.
  • Assist with preparation of instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Collect and maintain data for individual students as requested.
  • Demonstrate professional and flexible attitude toward staff.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and confidentiality.
