Job summary

The County of Lancaster is seeking a Youth Care Worker to provide direct daily care and supervision for detained youth. This role focuses on positive daily interactions to support youth in a secure facility and maintain safety.

3rd shift hours are 11pm to 7am. Candidates must meet PA code eligibility and possess a high school diploma or GED; sensitive handling of confidential information is essential in a fast-paced, structured environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age per PA Code 3800-55h.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Observe and document behavior of detained youth.
• Prevent abuse and ensure safety of detained youth.
• Explain and reinforce rules of operation with detained youth.
• Prepare and deliver services related to basic human needs.
• Ensure community safety by following security procedures.
• Interact with youth regarding individual and group behaviors.
• Meet and search detained youth during admissions process.
• Physically manage detained youth to prevent injury when needed.
• Transport detained youth to court and medical appointments.
• Monitor residents during off-site programming events.
• Administer first aid as necessary.
• Available to work weekends, holidays and flexible shifts.
