Job summary

Indiana Packers Corporation is looking for a skilled Utilities Technician to support 3rd shift operations in Michigan. You will maintain and operate ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, and water supply to ensure continuous production, while following strict safety and SOP guidelines.

Requires 5+ years of utilities experience, HVAC refrigerant proficiency, CMMS familiarity, and the ability to work overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; engineering degree preferred.
• Minimum of five years utilities operations experience.
• HVAC experience with refrigerants R-22, R-407C, R-507C and R-717.
• Experience in operation and maintenance of Ammonia Refrigeration system.
• Haz-Mat and forklift training; PSM 14 element awareness.
• Familiar with maintenance CMMS.
• Willing to obtain RETA CARO, RETA CIRO and Boiler operator certification within 2 years of hire date.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, data management, analysis, and reporting.
• Available for overtime, weekends and holidays for a 24-hr operation.
• Strong leadership and communication skills for positive team relationships.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining equipment per manufacturer specs and safety guidelines.
• Operate ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, vessels and related equipment.
• Make rounds and log daily operations for engine rooms and refrigeration equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with facility equipment and tools.
• Maintain ammonia refrigeration equipment following SOPs.
• Follow safety requirements including PPE, LOTO, and process safety management.
• Respond to emergencies related to utility system failures.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure swift, effective responses.
• Provide safety, operational protocol, and equipment maintenance training.
• Adhere to scheduled hours to ensure smooth operation and teamwork.
