Job summary

Saia is seeking a qualified diesel mechanic for the 3rd shift to maintain, repair, and overhaul trailers and equipment at our facilities. You will address class 6–8 trucks, tractors, trailers, and forklifts, using hand tools, hydraulic jacks, and diagnostic equipment to keep our fleet safe and reliable.

Responsibilities include diagnosing failures, performing mechanical, electrical repairs, keeping accurate maintenance records, and adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Working knowledge of hand tool repairs on class 6,7, and 8 trucks.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and maintains systems and parts associated with class 6,7, and 8 diesel-powered tractors, trailers, and forklifts.
• Diagnosis failures and makes repairs on mechanical, electrical, and other vehicles.
• Operates and uses specialized equipment.
• Uses hydraulic jacks to lift heavy trucks and cars to perform maintenance work underneath the vehicles.
• Troubleshoots and repairs heavy truck engines, braking, electrical, cooling, and exhausting systems.
• Assists in maintaining accurate records of repairs, schedules, and parts inventory.
• Follows safety protocols and procedures when handling heavy equipment.
