Job description

Overview/ Summary: This position will be responsible for overseeing the Sanitation Department, which includes cleaning and sanitizing the plant to meet USDA standards within a scheduled timeframe to ensure maximum operational uptime.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversees daily operations of the sanitation department.
• Monitors and confirms that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained and sanitized for efficient production.
• Prepares and maintains appropriate records.
• Collaborates closely with production supervisors and management.
• Supervises, trains, and develops sanitation team members.
• Develops and follows sanitation procedures in accordance with GMP, USDA, and FDA regulations for all sanitation tasks.
• Sets up, stocks, and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Ensures compliance with all company policies and standards.
• Enforces all Food Safety and Plant Safety policies, practices, and protocols.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous sanitation experience required.
• Experience in a food manufacturing plant or similar; meat experience strongly preferred.
• Management or supervisory experience.
• Extensive knowledge of sanitation, meat processing jobs, and chemicals.
• Managerial skills, good interpersonal relations, and conflict resolution abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Leadership skills and ability to lead and motivate teams.
• Experience managing manufacturing teams, setting objectives, and performance management.
• Strong communication skills to engage and motivate teams.
• Understanding of manufacturing principles and leadership within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Highly organized.
• Bilingual in Spanish/English desired but not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, sometimes for long durations.
• Work in slippery floors, cold temperatures, and loud noise environments.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
• Safe handling and exposure to chemicals.
• Potential exposure to stressful situations and schedule changes.
• Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 lbs unassisted.
