Job description

Overview/ Summary: This position will be responsible for overseeing the Sanitation Department, which involves cleaning and sanitizing the plant to meet USDA standards within a specified schedule to ensure maximum operational time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees daily operations of the sanitation department.
  • Monitors and confirms that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained and sanitized for efficient production.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate records.
  • Works closely with production supervisors and management.
  • Supervises, trains, and develops sanitation team members.
  • Develops and follows sanitation procedures according to GMP, USDA, and FDA regulations.
  • Sets up, stocks, and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies.
  • Ensures compliance with all company policies and standards.
  • Enforces food safety and plant safety policies, practices, and protocols.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous sanitation experience required.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, preferably in meat processing.
  • Management or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of sanitation, meat processing, and chemicals.
  • Managerial skills, good interpersonal relations, conflict resolution abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership skills and team management experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Highly organized.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred but not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Work in slippery, cold, noisy environments.
  • Handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Handle chemicals safely.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Resume required.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with or without accommodation.
