Job description

Environmental Health & Safety Supervisor

Location: Ottumwa, Iowa

Job Responsibilities:

1. Supervise, evaluate, and direct personnel on shift to ensure operations follow sound principles, company policies, and procedures.
2. Stimulate maximum safety, efficiency, and productivity; ensure proper employee training.
3. Anticipate and address causes of delays in shift operations to meet production schedules.
4. Apply company employee relations and union contract policies when dealing with employees.
5. Monitor and confirm machinery, equipment, and facilities are maintained and sanitized for efficient production.
6. Arrange for the preparation and maintenance of appropriate records (e.g., payroll, sanitation, chemicals).
7. Collaborate closely with other supervisors and management to promote efficiency and teamwork.
8. Attend scheduled or called meetings.
9. Perform other duties as needed or assigned.

Required Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of sanitation practices.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Bi-lingual skills are helpful but not required.
• Good attendance record (less than 3 points for internal candidates).

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College education is recommended.
