Wieland North America, Inc in Waterbury, CT is seeking a Rolling Operator to safely and efficiently operate Sendzimir Z-mills on the on-site third shift, monitoring materials and machine parameters to ensure specifications are met.

The role requires 3-5 years of rolling mill experience, basic math skills, and a strong safety mindset; candidates must be able to read and write English and work with hand tools and measurement devices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 3-5 years' experience running Sendzimir Z-mill or similar rolling machinery.
• Ability to read and write English and perform simple math.
• Mechanically inclined with good hand tools skills.
• Strong attention to safety rules and procedures.
• Excellent organizational and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and follow Work Instructions for equipment.
• Set up and operate Sendzimir Z-mills; monitor material and machine parameters.
• Determine proper roll combinations to achieve desired shape and finish.
• Move material using forklifts or other handling equipment.
• Direct one or more helpers to maximize uptime and quality.
• Perform light maintenance on machines and report issues.

Wieland is hiring a Rolling Operator.The Rolling Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating the Sendzimir Z-mills while continually monitoring the material and the machine parameters to assure compliance with specifications. This role is located in Waterbury, CTand will be fully on-site.

Hourly Pay Range: $30.20 per hour to $32.20 per hour

Shift Differential: $0.55/hr

Work Schedule: 3rd Shift (11:00 pm - 7:00 am)

Pay Schedule: Weekly

Responsibilities

Rolling Operator Responsibilities:

• Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
• Follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and JSP (Job Safety Practice) documents.
• Read, understand, and follow all Work Instructions Specific to the equipment.
• Detect and report faulty operations, improper material, and unusual conditions.
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
• Set-up and operate Sendzimir Z-mills. Continually monitor material and machine parameters toassure compliance with specifications.
• Determine proper roll combinations to achieve desired shape and surface finish.
• Use electronic contact and non-contact gauges, indicators, and controls to operate machine andcheck product.
• Check material for proper gauge, surface finish, or other properties and communicate withmetrology lab to ensure product meets appropriate specifications.
• Move material to and from machine using forklifts, transporters, cranes, pallet jacks.
• Direct the work of one or more mill helpers to maximize machine uptime, quality, and productivity
• Operate rewind equipment, steel sleeves and mill block.
• Perform light maintenance on machines, such as changing and cleaning work rolls, intermediaterolls, and bearings.
• Perform other similar or related duties or flex to other areas of the plant as required.

Rolling Operator Qualifications:

• Ability to read and write English. Ability to maintain production records and logs.
• Employment record reflecting reliability. Above average attendance.
• 3-5 years' experience running Sendzimir Z-mill or other related rolling machinery.
• Ability to perform simple math, addition and subtraction.
• Familiarity with use of micrometers and calipers.
• Excellent decision-making skills and organizational ability.
• Mechanically inclined, comfort level with using small hand tools.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
