Job summary

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is seeking a Refrigeration/Boiler Technician for the 3rd shift at our Smithfield, VA facility. You will work with maintenance personnel to inspect, repair, and optimize refrigeration and boiler systems in a food manufacturing environment.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, problem-solving, and adherence to food safety standards while supporting operations across shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1+ years of related experience in industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing.
• Preference given to candidates with RETA Certification, or a certification/degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong safety leadership and follow safe work practices.
• Work as part of a team to plan and conduct equipment repairs.
• Conduct routine audits and equipment inspections.
• Demonstrate troubleshooting abilities on refrigeration, boiler and related systems.
• Maintain open and professional communication with operations.
• Respond to unplanned/emergency work requests in a timely and effective manner.
• Follow food safety and good manufacturing practices.
• Be highly motivated and able to work independently.
