Job summary

Caterpillar Lafayette, IN is seeking a Machine Shop Quality Technician for the 3rd shift. You will inspect and document nonconforming engine parts, compare to Caterpillar prints and quality standards, and draft alerts to internal teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities include using gauges, reading prints with GD&T, and supporting audits and material disposition while ensuring timely quarantining of discrepant materials. Training on first shift is provided.

Qualifications

• Must pass BAT (Basic Assembly Training) or BMT (Basic Machining Training) for both written and hands-on exercises.
• Gauging skills.
• Quality experience.
• Engine knowledge.
• Print reading skills.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Learn Caterpillar systems and use them (eMachine, AQE).
• React to operations line calls for problematic parts.
• Read Caterpillar prints, understand GD&T, and communicate non-conformances.
• Troubleshoot issues with parts.
• Gage utilization to check part conformance.
• Support internal and external audits and material disposition.
