Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is hiring a Machine Shop Quality Inspector for the 3rd Shift in South Milwaukee, WI. You will perform machine shop and assembly inspections, ensuring products meet engineering specifications and Caterpillar quality standards.

The role emphasizes data collection, analysis, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment; strong measurement and blueprint-reading skills are required, with opportunity for shift-based premium pay.

Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing quality inspection, machining inspection, or assembly inspection.
Proficient with precision measurement equipment (micrometers, calipers, verniers, depth gauges).
Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights up to 15 feet.

Responsibilities

Perform machine shop, assembly, and final inspections to verify products meet standards.
Use micrometers, calipers, verniers, and depth gauges.
Read blueprints and inspection standards.
Collect and analyze quality data for improvements.
Participate in root cause investigations and process improvements.
Assist engineers with capability studies and quality validation.
Document inspection results, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to improve quality.
