Job summary

Moog in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a 3rd Shift Inspector of Tooling and Machined Parts to inspect machined parts from complex drawings, ensure dimensional accuracy and certify first articles. The role requires reading blueprints, applying geometric tolerances, and operating CMM and optical vision systems with supervision minimal.

You should have a high mechanical aptitude, ability to lift 50 lbs, and completion of a vocational program in Machine Technology or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand and apply verbal, written and computer work instructions in English.
• At least one-year completion of a vocational program in Machine Technology or equivalent.
• ATDM graduates encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrates high mechanical aptitude and relates to Machine Shop technology.
• Proficient in general math (fractions, decimals, formulas).
• Able to lift at least 50 lbs with or without accommodation.
• Ability to use CMM Machines and shop gauges.
• Knowledge in blueprint reading and Geometric Tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Work from complex drawings with or without process instructions.
• Inspect machined parts involving complex angles and 3D projections.
• Perform first article inspections on machined, molded, and capsule hardware.
• Write and certify programs for the Coordinate Measuring Machine and Optical Vision System.
• Use CMM Optical Vision System for dimensional inspection at advanced level.
• Assist in training in CMM Optical Vision System dimensional inspection operations.
• Interact effectively to maintain positive relationships with shop personnel, production operators, coaches, and managers.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement Process.
