Job summary

Moog Inc. in Blacksburg, VA is seeking a 3rd Shift Entry Level Machinist. You will perform basic machining operations and operate various tools, with training provided to become proficient in turning, milling, drilling, and grinding.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; otherwise ability to understand and apply work instructions in English.
• At least one-year completion of an approved vocational program in Machine Technology or equivalent.
• Proficiency in general mathematics and knowledge of machine shop gauges and machines.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling machine, and grinding operations.
• Care and application of turning/plunge and form tools.
• Operate shear vise, tapping machine, and taps and dies (metric and standard).
• Use power hand tools, grinders, drills, belt sanders, disc sanders, and bead blasters.
• Operate power band saw and cut off saw; select speeds, feeds, tooth size, blade welding, and blade replacement.
• Complete required paperwork and perform other duties as assigned.

To be considered for the Entry Level Machinist role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

• High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• At least one-year completion of an approved vocational program in Machine Technology or equivalent
• Proficiency in general mathematics
• Knowledge of machine shop gauges and machines

As An Entry Level Machinist, You Will

• Perform basic drill press, lathe, milling machine, and grinding operations.
• Responsible for the care and application of turning/plunge and form tools.
• Operate shear vise, tapping machine (manual and power), and understand different styles and types of taps and dies (metric and standard)
• Operate different types of power hand tools, grinders, drills, belt sanders, disc sanders, sand, and bead blasters.
• Operate and understand power band saw, cut off saw, proper selection of speeds, feeds, tooth size, blade welding, guide setting, and blade replacement.
• Complete required paperwork
• Other duties as assigned

Salary Range Transparency

Blacksburg, VA $18.50-$22.00 Hourly
