Job summary

PDM seeks a parts processor to perform accurate measurements and precision cutting from blueprints in our shop. The role supports the metals supervisor and requires familiarity with band saws, plasma torches, iron workers, and various cutting tools. You will ensure quality and safety while handling materials in a year-round outdoor setting.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of mechanical/machining experience, can read drawings, and work with weld symbols. High school diploma required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a mechanical/technical/machining field.
  • Ability to read blueprints and weld symbols.
  • Experience with cutting equipment and shop tools.
  • Must lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in various conditions.
  • Strong safety awareness and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize and apply SOPs for band saws, iron worker, plasma torch, and related tools.
  • Ensure product quality and quantity meet standards.
  • Interpret weld symbols, dimensions, and materials on drawings.
  • Apply safety measures when working with machines and tools.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in the shop.

Reports to: Metals Supervisor

Position Summary: Our parts processor provides accurate measurements and precision cutting of parts with various technologies off of blueprints.

Responsibilities And Areas Of Accountability
  • Familiarize and utilize all standard operating procedures in relation to band saws, iron worker, plasma torch, etc.
  • Ensure that product standards, both as to quality and quantity are met
  • Interpret weld symbols, dimensions, and materials on drawings
  • Apply all safety measures when working in the shop and with machines/ hand tools
  • Maintain a positive attitude
Requirements
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Ability to receive/read instructions and implement specific instructions
  • Ability to review prints
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to figure angle/pitch from rise & run
  • Must have basic understanding of angles
  • Knowledge of all cutting types – Band Saw, Torch, Plasma, and Shear
  • Knowledge of notching, punching, and Press Brake functions
  • Must be able to take and follow directions
  • Ability to drive a fork truck (certification preferred)
  • Knowledge of different material types (e.g. carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum.)
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Applicants must be able to walk and stand on feet for extended period of time, lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs, crawl on hands and knees, climb a ladder and be able to work long hours.
  • This position works outdoors year-round and therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat.
Education:

High School Diploma

Experience:

3+ years in a relevant area- mechanical, technical, painting, and/ or machining experience.
