Job summary

PDM Precast, Inc. is seeking a parts processor to perform precise cutting and measurements from blueprints in our shop. You will work with band saws, plasma, and other equipment to ensure parts meet quality and quantity standards.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in mechanical or machining roles, knowledge of welding symbols, and strong attention to detail, with a commitment to safety and accuracy in a dynamic outdoor shop environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years in mechanical, technical, painting, or machining roles.
  • Ability to read drawings and interpret weld symbols.
  • Proven safety awareness and ability to work with shop equipment.
  • Experience with cutting tools such as band saws, plasma torches, and shears.

Responsibilities

  • Familiarize and utilize all standard operating procedures for band saws, iron workers, plasma torch, etc.
  • Ensure product quality and quantity meet standards.
  • Interpret weld symbols, dimensions, and materials on drawings.
  • Apply safety measures when working with machines and tools.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a hands-on shop environment.

Job description

Reports to:

Metals Supervisor



Position Summary:

Our parts processor provides accurate measurements and precision cutting of parts with various technologies off of blueprints.

Responsibilities and Areas of Accountability:


  • Familiarize and utilize all standard operating procedures in relation to band saws, iron worker, plasma torch, etc.

  • Ensure that product standards, both as to quality and quantity are met

  • Interpret weld symbols, dimensions, and materials on drawings

  • Apply all safety measures when working in the shop and with machines/ hand tools

  • Maintain a positive attitude



Knowledge & Skills:


  • Ability to receive/read instructions and implement specific instructions

  • Ability to review prints

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Ability to figure angle/pitch from rise & run

  • Must have basic understanding of angles

  • Knowledge of all cutting types – Band Saw, Torch, Plasma, and Shear

  • Knowledge of notching, punching, and Press Brake functions

  • Must be able to take and follow directions

  • Ability to drive a fork truck (certification preferred)

  • Knowledge of different material types (e.g. carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum.)

  • Standing for long periods of time

  • Applicants must be able to walk and stand on feet for extended period of time, lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs, crawl on hands and knees, climb a ladder and be able to work long hours.

  • This position works outdoors year-round and therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat.



Education:

High School Diploma



Experience:

3+ years in a relevant area- mechanical, technical, painting, and/ or machining experience.
