Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT is hiring a part-time Medical Health Worker for the BHS Department on a 32-hour, 3rd shift schedule. The role supports RN staff in direct patient care, ensures a safe therapeutic milieu, and handles clerical tasks to keep patient care flowing smoothly.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent (B.A. preferred), CPR certification, Crisis Intervention training, and prior mental health or hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency diploma required, B.A. preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Successful completion of Crisis Intervention training required.
• One year of previous experience in Mental Health or related field preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.
• Previous hospital environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in meeting the physical needs of patients and attends to activities of daily living.
• Collects clinical data for the RNs to use in the assessment of the patient's mental and physiological status.
• Assists in unit admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
• Observes patients and reports changes in mental status or behaviors to the RN.
• Makes safety rounds and documents patient whereabouts.
• Responds to events with verbal/behavioral interventions and restraints as directed.
• Facilitates patient group interactions and activities.
• Documents interventions and milieu activities in charting system.
• Transcribes physicians' orders and ensures proper forms and codes are used.
