Job summary

Day Kimball Health in Putnam, CT is seeking a Per Diem Mental Health Worker for the 1st shift in our BHS department. The role supports RNs, maintains a therapeutic milieu, and ensures safe patient care and documentation.

You will assist with daily living activities, collect data, and participate in admissions/transfers/discharges while reporting patient changes to the RN. This is a per diem, shift-based position with opportunities for ongoing growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency; B.A. preferred.
• CPR certification required.
• Crisis Intervention training required.
• One year of mental health or related field experience preferred.
• Computer experience preferred.
• Previous hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in meeting the physical needs of patients and activities of daily living.
• Collects clinical data for the RN to assess patient status.
• Assists in admission, transfer and discharge procedures.
• Observes patients and reports changes to the RN.
• Conducts safety rounds and documents patient whereabouts.
• Responds to events with verbal/behavioral interventions as directed.
• Facilitates patient group interactions and activities.
• Documents responses to interventions and milieu activities.
• Transcribes physician orders and manages medication records.

Education

Crisis Intervention training

One year mental health experience
