3rd Shift Material Handler

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, operates forklift truck to load, unload and move materials within plant, yard, or work site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates forklift trucks (sit down or stand-up) as directed.
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Positions forks, lifting platforms, or other lifting devices under, over or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products or materials and transports load to designated area.
- Loads or unloads materials into semi-truck trailers. May install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
- Stacks and assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
- Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
- Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
- Inventories materials on work floor; supplies workers with materials as requested.
- Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.

- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Must pass the in-house forklift driving test. Prior experience in driving and operating a forklift a plus.
- Must have a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Physical Demands:
- Machine shop working environment; dust, grease, and metal shavings common.
- While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to sit or stand and use hands to handle or touch controls continuously.
- The team member is regularly required to stand and walk.
- Frequent bending and stooping.
- On occasion, the team member may be required to reach above the shoulders.
- Ability to lift up to ten (10) pounds continuously and up to thirty (30) pounds frequently.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Overtime will be required during peak business periods and to meet business needs.
- May work outside in all weather conditions; mainly works indoors in warehouse settings, which are often cooler or hotter than traditional offices. The noise level is often high due to the use of various equipment.
- Dust, grease, and metal shavings are common.
- Continuous use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), steel toe shoes with metatarsals, and hearing protection is required when on the shop floor. Bump caps, face shields, gloves and Arc Flash Equipment may be required for more specific tasks.
