Job summary

Avantor in Bakersfield, CA seeks a Manufacturing Operations Supervisor for the 3rd shift to oversee daily planning, execution, and maintenance of manufacturing activities. You will optimize material, equipment, and personnel use to deliver quality products at minimum costs.

You’ll lead and develop staff, ensure adherence to Batch Records and SOPs, and drive continuous improvements while coordinating with production, maintenance, and shipping teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of progressive manufacturing experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Life science/chemistry production experience.
• Experience in cGMP manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise manufacturing employees and may oversee other departments (production, maintenance, shipping).
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate activities to fulfill sales orders and inventory requirements.
• Ensure safety, proper shutdowns, and compliance with written docs (Batch Records, SOPs).
• Train, motivate, and evaluate staff; develop cross-training to improve capacities.
• Support ISO audits and continuous improvement initiatives; reduce costs through process enhancements.
