Job summary

Mersen in Michigan seeks a Manufacturing Machinist specializing in manual lathe operations to turn, face, and finish precision parts.

You will read blueprints, set up machines, load materials, adjust speeds, and run test pieces to ensure conformity to specifications. You will inspect parts with calipers and micrometers, maintain records, and uphold safety.

A High School Diploma is preferred; join a company that values learning and teamwork in a cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in manual lathe operation and tooling setup.
  • Able to read blueprints and GD&T to verify parts.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand specifications of the tasks at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.
  • Configure machines by loading raw materials, installing necessary tools, and adjusting machine parameters (speed, feed, tool settings) based on job specifications.
  • Prepare test runs to check if the machines product outputs are according to specifications.
  • Continuously inspect parts for compliance with specifications using measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and other precision tools.
  • Prepare and operate Manual Lathes.
  • Keep accurate records of machine settings, parts produced, and any adjustments made during the production process.
  • Enthusiasm to continually learn new skills and techniques
  • Maintain cleanliness in work area
  • Always promotes and emphasizes safety

Required Skills
  • Proficient knowledge of common Manual Lathe techniques
  • Skilled in reading technical drawings and blueprints to understand the specifications of the parts being manufactured
  • Understanding and application of GD&T
  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred
  • Analytical and numerical skills; ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to work with decimals and fractions
  • Use of basic measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, etc.)
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
