Olympic Steel, Inc. in Chambersburg, PA is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the 3rd shift to maintain, repair, and improve machinery and facilities. Responsibilities include mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting and timely unscheduled repairs to keep production running.

The role requires a high school diploma and interest in hydraulics, PLCs, and reading schematics; heavy industrial experience is preferred. On-site position with strong safety culture and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong desire to learn different areas of maintenance, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanics, PLCs, and electrical maintenance.
• Previous experience in a heavy industrial setting strongly preferred.
• Previous experience with hand tools and precision instruments a plus.
• Experience with forklifts or other PITs strongly preferred.
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics and equipment drawings.
• Flexibility of work schedule.
• Working knowledge of general computer programs.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, repairs, and improves machinery, equipment and warehouse facility in a safe and timely manner.
• Troubleshoots mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems on production machines.
• Performs emergency/unscheduled repairs during production.
• Conducts preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facility.
• Reads and interprets manuals and work orders for required maintenance and service.
• Maintains a daily log of completed tasks.
• May work at different workstations as production needs require.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Strong desire to learn different areas of maintenance including hydraulics pneumatics mechanics PLCs electrical maintenance

Previous experience in a heavy industrial setting

General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices
