Central Garden & Pet/Kaytee is currently looking for a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team at Kaytee in Chilton, WI. In this role, you will be responsible for project work such as installation of equipment, fabrication, and preventative maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with operators, Maintenance Supervisor, Shift Supervisors, and team members.
- Adhere to safety and environmental policies and promote workplace safety improvements.
- Dismantle, move, install, or repair machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Inspect machinery to identify malfunctions and perform repairs or maintenance.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness of plant facilities, equipment, and work areas.
- Assist with installing new equipment and systems, and maintain existing ones.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
- Follow safety and environmental policies, promoting continuous safety improvements.
- Perform tasks such as annual and semi-annual PMP's and other assigned duties.
- Report any Food Safety issues to authorized personnel.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
- Ability to work independently safely, efficiently, and accurately.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical manuals.
- Experience in performing preventive maintenance per guidelines.
- Skill in repairing, dismantling, installing, or moving machinery.
- Understanding and enforcement of safety procedures.
- Knowledge of mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to test systems in compliance with standards.
- Proficiency with measuring tools like rulers, calipers, and micrometers.
- Experience inspecting and cleaning utility plant equipment.
- Ability to work at elevated locations.
- Skill in using hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Exposure to elements such as temperature extremes, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
- Potentially dangerous situations requiring safety precautions and protective equipment. Physical activity involved.
- Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds regularly, and 50-100 pounds with assistance as needed.
- Regularly climb, lift, bend, stand, walk, twist, reach, and perform physical tasks.
- Work hours are generally Monday-Thursday, 3 pm to 1 am (4-10 hour days), with possible overtime or project-based variations.
