Description

Central Garden & Pet/Kaytee is currently looking for a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team at Kaytee in Chilton, WI. In this role, you will be responsible for project work such as installation of equipment, fabrication, and preventative maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with operators, Maintenance Supervisor, Shift Supervisors, and other team members.
• Follow established safety and environmental policies and procedures while promoting continuous improvement in workplace safety.
• Dismantle, move, install, or repair machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Examine machinery or mechanical equipment; identify reasons for malfunction and complete repairs and/or maintenance.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments to repair and maintain production equipment and ancillary equipment.
• Clean plant facilities, equipment, and work areas as required.
• Assist with installing new equipment and systems. Repair and maintain current equipment and systems as needed.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Follow established safety and environmental policies and procedures and promote continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance.
• Perform special program tasks, such as annual and semi-annual PMP’s.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Report any Food Safety issues to authorized personnel for correction.

• Knowledge of maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Ability to test systems and/or operations in compliance with published standards.
• Ability to accurately use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other related measuring tools.
• Knowledge of inspecting and cleaning utility plant equipment.
• Ability to work in elevated locations (elevator legs).
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

Working Conditions

• Work involves regular exposure to elements such as temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and loud noises.
• Work environment may involve exposure to potentially dangerous situations requiring safety precautions and protective equipment. Frequent physical activity.
• Heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally 50-100 pounds with assistance.
• Regularly climb, lift, bend, stand, walk, twist, turn, and reach with arms and hands.
• Work hours are generally Monday-Thursday from 3 pm to 1 am (4-10 hour days), with potential variations for overtime, projects, and deadlines.
