Job summary

Tyson Foods, Inc. seeks a Maintenance Technician for its Clayton, AL facility. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment, ensure a safe work environment, and document actions taken.

The role requires 2+ years in maintenance, good communication, and ability to work 3rd shift; lifting heavy loads and standing for long periods are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience or diploma from Industrial Maintenance program.
• Ability to follow Tyson policies and safety procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and assets safely.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of mechanical malfunctions.
• Document corrective actions in written reports.
• Respond to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and emergencies.
• Lubricate equipment with grease and oils.
• Perform preventive maintenance per schedule.
• Complete paperwork and reports as required.
• Comply with lockout/tagout, confined space, and safety programs.
• Perform mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
• Diagnose issues and perform repairs without supervision.
• Assist with other mechanics as needed and perform janitorial tasks if required.
• Work in varying temperatures; day-long standing and physical duties.

Job Details

• Troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
• Provide troubleshooting and repair of any mechanical malfunction.
• Prepare written documentation of actions taken to correct equipment problems.
• Respond to mechanical or electrical breakdowns and handle emergency situations.
• Lubricate equipment with various grease and oils.
• Perform preventive maintenance according to schedule.
• Complete appropriate paperwork and reports.
• Must comply with lockout/tagout, confined space, and all other safety programs.
• Must be able to perform mechanical and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs.
• Able to perform diagnosis and repairs without supervision.
• Capable of starting all equipment before production startup and shutdown without supervision.
• Ability to assist with other mechanics as needed.
• Perform janitorial services if needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Work in temperature that will vary with outside ambient temperatures and humidity. It can be dusty, warm, and humid.
• Must be willing to complete all required training for the job and perform any other duties assigned.

Requirements

• Must have a minimum of 2 years of Maintenance experience or graduate of Industrial Maintenance Training program or combination of experience and education to meet the 2 year requirement.
• Must list job experience related to work history\ history, skills, and education information on application.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills are critical.
• This position will require standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and the ability to climb ladders.
• Position may involve heavy lifting 50-70 lbs. or more.
• Must be willing to work in damp, cold or hot environments, reach above shoulder level.
• Must be able to perform all duties of the position.
• Be willing to stand 8- 10 hours a day.
• Must wear PPE, ear protection (plugs or muffs), hair net and beard guard.
• Must have or be able to obtain Tyson operator's license for pallet jack or forklift, if necessary.
• Ability to understand technical mechanical concepts.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organization skills.
