Job summary

Seaman Paper is hiring a Machine Operator for the Gardner, MA facility. This role operates and monitors paper converting equipment, ensuring production quality and safety. Training is provided for the right candidate, with a focus on reliability and teamwork.

The position offers full-time hours on the 3rd shift (11:00 pm–7:00 am) with competitive pay of $18.00–$22.00 per hour plus shift differential, and comprehensive benefits after hire.

Qualifications

• Previous machine operating or manufacturing experience preferred, but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Forklift and overhead hoist experience is a plus. Training and certification are provided upon employment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate paper converting equipment, including sheeters, slitters, and crepe streamer machines.
• Load and unload paper rolls using forklifts, clamp trucks, and overhead hoists.
• Thread materials through machines and adjust settings such as knives, tension, and alignment.
• Monitor equipment and make adjustments to maintain production and product quality.
• Perform routine quality checks, including measuring roll length, weight, and diameter.
• Maintain adequate supplies of glue, packaging materials, and other production supplies.
• Complete production paperwork, quality records, and production counts accurately.
• Work with team members to rotate duties and support production needs.
• Identify and report product defects, equipment issues, or safety concerns.
• Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and compliant with food-safe and safety standards.
• Participate in training, cross-training, and departmental improvement efforts.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Support other production activities as assigned.
