Job summary

GLT Packaging is seeking a 3rd shift machine operator to join a newly created operating team. You will lead a small crew, set up jobs, and interpret blueprints to ensure product quality meets customer expectations.

The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork. Training will occur on 1st shift with experienced operators before transitioning to the 3rd shift, offering hands-on learning and opportunities to advance within a growing company.

Qualifications

• Experience in corrugated industry operating rotary machines
• Able to read a tape measure down to 1/16 of an inch
• Able to read and comprehend blueprint and diagram basics; interpret manufacturing specifications and use shop math
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
• Willingness to work all shifts and overtime, up to 10-hour shifts and 6-hour Saturdays
• Ability to communicate well on all levels and good interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills required

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a small crew of assistants and material handlers
• Set up jobs according to general specifications; interpret blueprints and specs to ensure quality meets customer satisfaction
• Work with management and maintenance to address roadblocks
• Absorb plant direction and articulate a plan to meet expectations
• Maintain a positive, cooperative attitude toward customers, coworkers, and management; participate in quality improvement projects
• Perform ongoing quality checks to ensure product meets quality standards
• Operate die cutting equipment per job orders and procedures
• Perform preventative maintenance and keep areas clean and orderly
• Report tooling issues to supervisor
• Meet or exceed machine set-up/run rate goals
• Perform other related duties as requested by supervision/management
