Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Byesville, OH is seeking candidates to assemble DT12 transmissions following the established remanufacturing process, delivering a complete build ready for dyno.

This on-site role requires physical manufacturing work, reading work station instructions, and using torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges and hoists. Qualifications

  • This role involves physically demanding manufacturing duties and following standard procedures.
  • Applicants should be able to read and interpret work instructions and drawings.
  • Prior exposure to automotive/trucking manufacturing is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred; college education is a plus.
  • Must be able to stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and use power tools safely.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble the transmission using work instructions and OE specs.
  • Operate torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges, hoist, and hand tools.
  • Identify parts and inspect for quality and conformance.
  • Diagnose build issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety rules.
  • Collaborate with team and participate in continuous improvement.
  • Read Work Station Instructions and use company data systems as needed.

Inside the Role

This position is responsible for the assembly of DT12 transmissions by way of the established remanufacturing process. The associate is responsible for assembly of all components onto DT12 transmission to a complete build ready for dyno. Innovative products begin with talented, highly motivated individuals. This position offers:
  • Starting pay of $23.00/hr up to $32.46/hr*
  • Quarterly gainsharing bonus potential*
  • Additional shift differential for off‑shifts

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Perform physically demanding manufacturing duties including repetitive processes, moderate to heavy lifting, use of machinery, and following standardized work procedures.
  • Actively participate in improving work area in terms of safety, quality, attendance, productivity, suggestion activities, housekeeping, and throughput.
  • Operate torque wrenches, air tools, presses, gauges, hoist, press, hand tools, computers, PIV.
  • Use of pallet jack & hoist.
  • Properly identify component parts by learning identification numbers.
  • Inspect parts and identify parts that do not meet the standard.
  • A keen eye for detail and a results‑driven approach.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and diagnose unit functionality.
  • Assembly of the transmission, using work instructions, manufacturer’s procedures and O.E. specifications.
  • Diagnose and correct issues with the build as they arise.
  • Adhere to established work rotation plan.
  • Complete training matrix for each rotation position.
  • Ability to read and understand Work Station Instructions.
  • Use computer systems to access company data associated with the assembly process, utilize drawings, bills of materials and specification sheets in both electronic and hard copy.
Knowledge You Should Bring
  • Must be capable of repetitive hand manipulation, grasping and supporting power tools.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete for the entire shift with repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds (with assistance from a team member or use of hoist).
  • Must maintain a clean work area.
  • Meet quality standards and implement continuous improvement measures.
  • Cross‑train on other jobs as required.
  • Ability to operate riveting, torquing, hand tools and small power tools in a safe and nondestructive manner.
  • Read and understand Work Station Instruction documentation.
  • Collaborate with a team and work independently.
  • Work overtime when necessary.
  • Establish a satisfactory attendance record and performance rating.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing (automotive/trucking) environment.
  • Previous mechanical experience.
  • High School Diploma / GED preferred; further college education a plus.
