Job summary

Saab is seeking 3rd shift Structural Assemblers in West Lafayette, IN to build the aft fuselage for the U.S. Air Force T-7A Red Hawk. Starting hourly rate is 23–25 USD with a 3rd shift premium of 2 USD.

The role includes training, standard procedures, and teamwork to deliver high-quality assembly and system testing. Qualified candidates will have 2+ years of assembly or hand tool experience, a high school diploma, ability to read engineering drawings, and capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant assembly or hand tool experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to select and safely use appropriate hand and power tools.
• Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistent quality.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical tasks, including bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and gripping.
• Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Assemble aircraft structure and final assembly on the fuselage.
• Train new team members and transfer knowledge.
• Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and morale.
• Complete functional testing of assemblies and systems.
• Handle 'Class A' surfaces, including touch-up painting.
• Sign off when work is complete according to spec.
• Contribute to a positive, productive work environment.
