CREC Reggio Magnet School of the Arts (RMS) is seeking a long term substitute grade 3 teacher to cover a leave of absence. RMS is a full-day interdistrict magnet school serving PreK-Grade 5.

Inspired by the Italian Reggio Emilia philosophy, the curriculum is designed to respect a child’s point of view and encourage students to control the direction of their learning. Qualifications

• CT State Certification as an Elementary Teacher, preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline
• Masters degree in related area preferred
• Experience in elementary teaching a plus

Responsibilities

• Develops and administers elementary curriculum aligned with district goals
• Creates a safe classroom environment for individualized and small group instruction
• Develops lesson plans and translates them into learning experiences
• Assesses student learning and adapts instruction to meet needs
• Educates students on citizenship and other required subjects
• Maintains records of grading and attendance according to district procedures
• Encourages parental involvement and communicates effectively
