Job summary

The Orchard Ltd in Ridgeland, MS is seeking a Staff LPN to support nursing operations under the Director of Nurses and to maintain up-to-date resident biosketches and care plans. You will participate in care plan meetings and verify medications and physician orders to ensure accurate treatment.

You will administer medications per orders, clarify orders as needed, and maintain complete documentation. The role also requires stocking and securing the medication room and courteous family

Qualifications

• Must possess an LPN license and current nursing credentials.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the Director of Nurses.
• Maintain knowledge of resident biosketches and family interviews.
• Participate in resident care plan meetings.
• Accept and verify resident medications delivered from pharmacy.
• Verify receipt of physician orders and administer medications per order.
• Clarify physician orders as needed with the physician or designee.
• Ensure medication documentation is current and correct.
• Stock medication room with required meds as ordered by physician.
• Keep medication room secured at all times.
• Follow policies on disposal of medications.
• Communicate with resident family members in a courteous, professional manner.
• Supervise and provide direction to aides.

Job description

Staff LPN must have the physical, emotional, & technical abilities to:

• Work under the direction of the Director of Nurses
• Maintain knowledge of each resident from his/her biosketch and family interview
• Participate in Resident care plan meetings
• Accept & verify resident medications delivered from pharmacy
• Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments
• Administer medications per physician's order
• Clarify physician orders as needed by calling the physician or his/her designee
• Insure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages, etc.
• Insure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over-the-counter, and other medications as ordered by the physician
• Insure medication room is secured at all times
• Follow facility policies regarding disposal of medications
• Communicate, as needed, with resident family members and other legal representatives in a courteous, professional manner
