Job summary

The Orchard Ltd is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to support medication management for residents. The role involves administering medications per physician orders, verifying orders, and maintaining accurate documentation in the medical record, while coordinating with the Nurse Manager.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of the Nurse Manager.
• Maintain knowledge of each resident from his/her biosketch and family.
• Accept & verify resident medications delivered from pharmacy.
• Verify receipt of physician orders for medications and other treatments.
• Administer medications per physician's order.
• Clarify physician orders as needed by calling the physician or his/her designee.
• Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, change of dosages, etc.
• Ensure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, over the counter, and other medications as ordered by the physician.
• Ensure medication room is secured at all times.
• Follow facility policies regarding disposal of medications.
• Communicate, as needed, with resident family members and other legal representatives in a courteous, professional manner.
• Supervises and gives direction to aides.
