Iowa 80 Group Distribution Center in Walcott, IA, seeks a 3PL Business Development Manager to lead growth of its third-party logistics capabilities, including storage, fulfillment, and shipping for external clients.

The role requires evaluating customer needs, optimizing space and processes, and building strong client relationships while driving safety and efficiency across the DC. On-site, with growth opportunities and a focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, supply chain, or related field.
• 3+ years in warehouse, distribution, logistics, or 3PL operations.
• Experience with 3PL onboarding and fulfillment operations.
• Strong analytics with KPI reporting to drive performance.
• Knowledge of WMS, inventory management, and 3PL processes.

Responsibilities

Description

Reporting to the Iowa80.com General Manager, the 3PL Business Development Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for managing, improving, and growing the Iowa 80 Group Distribution Center. This individual will assist in the Distribution Center's day-to-day performance while developing and expanding the facility’s third-party logistics (3PL) capabilities, including storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping services for external companies.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, results-oriented leader with a proven track record in distribution, warehouse operations, business development, and process improvement. This individual will identify opportunities to improve efficiency, maximize available space and resources, develop relationships with potential 3PL customers, and grow the Distribution Center into a profitable, highly effective 3PL operation.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the condition and protection of assets within and around the Distribution Center.
• Responsible for the management of inventory, including knowing where product is slotted and keeping it in good and saleable condition.
• Lead the development and growth of the Distribution Center’s 3PL business, including storage, inventory management, fulfillment, and shipping services.
• Identify, research, and pursue potential 3PL customers and business opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective 3PL customers.
• Work with the General Manager to establish pricing, service offerings, contracts, and operational requirements for 3PL customers.
• Evaluate customer needs and determine the appropriate warehouse space, equipment, labor, technology, and processes required to support new business.
• Collaborate with senior staff members to ensure information and reports are developed and implemented to fulfill business requirements.
• Assess requirements and research the selection of equipment, tools, hardware, and software to achieve maximum automation, testing, and implementation.
• Work closely with the Systems and Operations Manager to ensure warehouse systems and processes support both Iowa 80 Group operations and 3PL customers.
• Train Distribution Center staff on system enhancements, cross-over of duties, and how to continuously improve in their work.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of warehouse employees. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and employee engagement. Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
• Support growth at our retail stores, understanding that warehouse failures lead to lost sales.
• Ensure a safe working environment, enforce all safety regulations, and company policies. Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
• Establish and monitor operational, financial, service, and customer satisfaction goals for the Distribution Center and 3PL operations.
• Become an Expert in the Warehouse Management System and assist in upgrades and testing of the system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in warehouse, distribution, logistics, supply chain, or 3PL operations.
• Experience with 3PL customer onboarding, fulfillment operations, and/or warehouse process improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using KPIs, reporting, and data to improve operational and financial performance.
• Knowledge of WMS, inventory management, order fulfillment, warehouse operations, and 3PL processes.
• Proven experience improving warehouse efficiency, capacity, inventory accuracy, workflows, productivity, and operating costs.
• Experience developing processes, policies, procedures, and service standards in a warehouse or 3PL environment.
• Ability to evaluate customer requirements and develop effective storage and fulfillment solutions.
• Strong understanding of cost control, labor utilization, inventory management, and profitability.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with customers.

This full-time position is at the Iowa 80 Group Distribution Center in Walcott, Iowa, home of the World's Largest Truckstop. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
