Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Machine Control Modeler/Survey CAD Technician to join our civil construction team in Denver. You will create precise 3D models and manage CAD data to support machine control and surveying across Midwest projects.

The ideal candidate has experience with Trimble civil software (Siteworks, Earthworks, TBC) and a strong eye for accuracy, with the ability to work independently and travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have experience with Trimble Business Center and Trimble civil software programs.
• Familiarity with Civil 3D or Bentley products is preferred, with flexibility to adapt to workflows.
• Ability to read and interpret grading plans, road alignments, cross sections, and site details from approved plans.
• FAA 107 Remote Pilot License or ability to obtain within a year of employment.
• Strong ability to resolve technical issues related to civil geospatial data.
• Excellent problem-solving, detail-orientation, and self-motivation; ability to learn new software quickly.
• Previous field surveying experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Construct 3D machine control and site layout models for Trimble tools.
• Perform earthwork takeoffs using diverse data sources or survey methods.
• Support field crews working with digital design data.
• Maintain uniformity across projects using company CAD/drafting standards.
• Create as-builts and other drafting tasks as required.
• Review and convert between various CAD file formats.
• Assist with drone flights as needed.
• Perform other field and office tasks as assigned.
