Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a detail-oriented Machine Control Modeler/Survey CAD Technician to join our Denver civil construction team. You will create precise 3D models and manage CAD data to support machine control and surveying across multiple Midwest projects.

The ideal candidate is organized, capable with Trimble software (Siteworks, Earthworks, Business Center), and able to work independently with strong attention to detail. Travel to job sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to read and interpret contract documents and site details from approved plans.
• Highly detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Willingness to learn new software and methods as workflows evolve.
• Field surveying experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Construct 3D machine control and site layout models compatible with Trimble civil software.
• Perform earthwork takeoffs using data from diverse sources and survey methods.
• Support field crews working with digital design data.
• Maintain CAD/drafting standards across projects.
• Create as-built drawings and other drafting tasks as needed.
• Review and transform CAD file formats to align with project workflows.
• Assist with drone flights as required and supported.
• Handle additional field and office tasks as assigned.
